Photography new year's resolutions

Heyho,

I thought it might be a good idea to think about what I want to achieve in photography and how I want to approach this hobby of mine this year, so here are a few new year’s resolutions (and we are going to ignore the fact that it’s the middle of January already).

1.       Think more

When I used to do my very first photowalks, I alwas shot SO MANY photos because I thought that there’s surely going to be at least one good one. But this year I want to really think about the shots, about the composition, the colors I’m using etc. I’m getting better at it, but there’s definitely A LOT of room for improvement.

2.       More and less inspiration at the same time

Last year, I feel like I really managed to find my style and see what I can actually do. And to be honest, looking at other people's photos doesn’t really help me much in terms of finding my own style. After seeing a photo from a location from someone I always have th photo in my mind and I’m trying to be as good as the other photographer and I kind of leave my own style out. With that being said, I want look at others work and find inspiration in terms of how to use colors or how to edit.

3.       Interact more

Nothing inspires me more than seeing how 2 people do the same thing differently – so here’s to interacting more with other photographers in 2019!

4.       Ignore instagram

And I don’t mean "leave instagram forever and never post anything again“. What I mean by that is ignoring the numbers. Honestly, some of the portraits I post are the worst performing posts but than, I get told how everyone likes them and people contact me to schedule shootings. So it can’t be that bad. Therefore, in 2019, I’m going to be posting what I want, without thinking about my feed and how well is the post going to perform. Because in the end, I’m doing photography for me and not for others.

5.       Make my first exhibition happen

That kinda speaks for itself, but this has been a dream of mine for years and years and years and since one of my biggest dreams came true last year, I decided that exhibition is the next one I’m going to chase.
