My Prague struggle
Aloha!
I'm back with a story from my recent trip to Prague.
So, I went to Prague to see a friend of mine and had some time before out meeting so I decided to do a mini photowalk in the city center. And I struggled. A LOT.
Let me explain why: I usually do street photography in Vienna, where I know every corner and every house, because I spent so much time taking photos there. But now I was standing in the center of Prague, in the streets I used to see almost daily for 4 years (so I should know them just as good as I know the Viennesse streets - if not even better) before I moved to Vienna and at first, I just couldn't force myself to create something halfway decent.
And I guess it was because to me Prague is nothing special. Kind of a home away from home that in my mind doesn't need to be captured because it's always going to stay the same and because it's always going to be there for me. Therefore, I don't really have the urge to try to make good photos.
Sooo, I changed this mindset after I realised what was holding me back and "applied" my techniques learned in Vienna onto the streets of Prague and it kinda worked. But then another problem appeared.
There's SO MUCH BROWN everywhere in the streets there! And I hate warm colors, especially warm tones of brown. That's like the one color I will avoid at all costs and even looking at it makes me cringe. And there I was, standing in the middle of a street thinking: THIS IS TOO BROWN, I CAN'T DO THIS, ABORT MISSION! Even writing about that makes me so uncomfortable omg.
And editing those shots full of brown buildings was another story. I skipped half of the photos because I just couldn't deal with the color scheme. Oh, Prague, I love you but this was a bit too much for me.
Reading this back, I kinda sound like psychopath, but we all have our good and bad sides haha.
Do you have a color you can't stand or is this just me? Please let me know! (And please tell me I'm not the only one haha).
Have a nice day everyone!
(And here are some of the shots I took, let me know what you think!)
